How Social Media changes the lives of today’s generation

We all know social media has a bigger impact on our lives. Today’s generation changes the behavior of past generations because of the influence of social media. The diverse culture also affects the action. Through social media, we can access information, cultures, and knowledge throughout the world that’s how diverse culture started. Do you believe that today’s generation is very different from past generations? Well, let us figure it out.

Past generations, was way more fun back then. After school, children quickly go to the field to play different games. Interacts with other children even if they did not know each other. That’s why they have many friends, children become more friendly as they interact with other children. Also, children before are very obedient, whatever their parents say to them, they quickly follow their orders.

Unlike today, children nowadays ignore each other when they’re using their phones because of social media. Even if they are together but there presents is unnoticeable. They divert their attention when they’re using a cellphone, the traditional games that they played before slowly fading. The interactions among children changed, the way they speak, they communicate and respond to their parents and fellow children also changed. Children’s becomes disobedient because they put social media first before they follow orders of their parents they say “later will do or I’m busy”

Consequently, we must moderately use social media for this cannot affect how we interact or how our behavior changes but this can also affect our health. Also when using social media, we must first know what would be the effects of it to us

How I celebrated valentines

February 14 is an annual festival to celebrate romantic love and admiration. This celebration is what we call Valentines Day, also called St. Valentine’s Day or The Feast of Saint Valentine. A time when people show feelings, love, and affection with greetings and gifts.

This day is not only celebrated with a romantic couple, but it is also a day with family, friends and our self. Valentine’s Day should be celebrated not only on this day but every day, every day is a special day with our loved ones. Many people celebrate valentine’s day in many ways, in giving of gifts, flowers, letters or a simple dinner date.

But for me, every Valentine’s day is a day with my best friend. I don’t experience a valentine’s day with a special someone because first and foremost, I don’t have that special someone with me, my best friend is my only date every valentine’s day. We always go to church, thanking God for this kind of friendship and of course eating street foods with her.

We treat each other as sisters and partners, we always have each other’s back. We may not see each other every day because of the very busy schedule that we have in our studies but we make sure that our friendship is still there and it remains forever. That’s why every moment with her is very special.

Thus, as I said a while ago, valentine’s day is not only on this day but every day is a special day. We must think that it is not only for couples, it is also a time for ourselves, friends and families. And we must learn to appreciate the efforts that our loved ones show to us. Above all, thank God for the people that always there for us.

MY VLOG:

Online Dating

Does it call love when you just meet him/her online? This random question just pops up in my mind when I heard online dating. Online dating, it enables the people to find and introduce themselves in new person through social media, a special partner/love one you meet online. One of the reasons why we’re very into social media because of these. There are many dating sites online, we make it a ground for us to find a partner in our life. Some are very lucky to find one but some are unlucky.

Social media give chance to the people who are unfortunate to find the lucky one in the real world. Online dating is very rampant these days, well, we cannot deny that the other people use it to earn money. Nowadays, because of poverty we easily made decisions that we cannot imagine to happen, dating foreigners online for us to help our family raise from poverty is what some people trying to do. They have this mindset that if they date a foreigner they feel like they’re very lucky and that can help them get through from poverty. Well, I’m not generalizing but there are some, that’s why it left a bad impression on the foreigners.

Moreover, some people are lucky to find their other half in online dating, through constant communication the relationship worked likewise there are also the unlucky one but then we have to always remember that social media is not a basis to find the lucky one, we must wait until he/she comes in God’s perfect time.

All of us wish to have a partner that can take care of us, can give us what we need and can be with us forever and all of us wanted a story that can be happily ever after. Hence, never trust a person you just meet online because you don’t know what’s the real/true color of that person, some may be good but some may be bad. Choose wisely!

Influence of Social Media in Today’s Generation

Teenagers are very expressive today, they tend to express themselves either in their family and friends or in social media. They feel like it’s their comfort zone and so they are very vocal in their emotions. But it’s good in a way like they can use it or they can apply it to themselves the good benefits of social media and it is bad because they take advantage of media to use in a bad way. The thing is that the mindset of today’s generation is like “I have freedom so I do this and that, without fear, doubt and hesitations”. And if they want to share something with their friends and loved ones they tend to feel being judged easily wherein social media they feel like they are free and welcomed but it’s only my feelings and perceptions, we have our own individual opinions.

Nowadays, social media really influence teenagers, especially in these generations, well here are some of the good and bad effects of social media:

Good effects

  1. Keeping you updated
Through social media, we can easily get updates on what’s happening around the world. It is the reason why we’re being prepared for what’s coming next. Actually, there are many updates from social media that we can get from the news up to the new trends that we are fond of.
  2. Learning a new culture
Social media is a very diverse platform. We don’t need to go to the other places to discover and learn new cultures it is already in it [social media]. Most of the teenagers nowadays they want to imitate the culture of the other country because they want to copy their idols from the language that they used to the gestures on how they communicate to the other people.
  3. For research and studies.
In social media, we can get many credible research samples and resources that can help in our studies. It’s very convenient because you just have to search and then they give you a lot of information that you needed, no need to skim in a book or go to the library, social media have it all.
Actually, there are a lot of good effects on social media, I just stated the most common.

Bad effects

  1. It can affect the relationship. One of the traditions that our ancestors inherited to us is to eat together with our families, casually talking and laughing at each other but now because of the influence of social media there’s a division created between the relationship of the family members. It’s very common to us, right? We’re very busy surfing on social media we tend to forget the most precious time of our family, we should not let that happen, we should remember every moment with our family is special.
  2. Misspelled Words. Instead of learning the proper spelling of words, they make a shortcut message because most of us choose to type words like “wer r u” instead of typing “where are you” as long it may sound similar, we tend to forget the real spelling.

Therefore, social media really helpful to us, it’s not just for leisure time but also we can get a lot of information that can help us in our everyday life. But then we should use social media in the right way and we should remember our limitations when using it.

ONLINE BUSINESS

Did you shop online? Have you thought to start a business online? one of the famous business right now is an online business. Business a usually commercial or mercantile activity engaged in as a means of livelihood (Merriam – Webster Dictionary) so it is an activity of making money or making for a living. So, Online Business also means a livelihood through social media or on the internet.

Because it is online, social media is also involved. Social media does not always talk about commenting, sharing, reacting and chatting but then it is also about making money and business. Through social media, we can access what they sell internationally, it’s like a bridge form local to international. Many teenagers prefer to shop online than to buy in a mall because honestly, we become lazy when they tend to stay in our home than to go to the malls and we are not worried because all we have to do are to shop online using our own cellphones. Nowadays, many people are very successful in their online business yet there are many times that their business starting to get down but still they manage to fix, get up and continue selling. It’s because you cannot face-to-face your customer you have to put trust, that’s the major issue. There are many successful online shops that we have right now.

Well, it is not easy to sell online because there are a lot of people who would discriminate you and would ignore it. Some people prefer to buy in a mall than to an online shop because when you buy anything online, don’t expect that it’s the same in the picture and in the actual object but then it’s not. It’s most of the online seller’s problem, that’s why some people don’t take orders online. Online Business gives us freedom of choice to choose from what do we like. The cost of products online has a big difference from those in supermarkets or malls. Through these social media, we can reach different countries through the connections that we got. Mostly online business have their shipping fee a free,

Thus, social media is indeed very useful to us. it’s not just about posting pictures and videos for fun but also there are a lot of things that we can do in social media, from leisure to business. Even though there are some disadvantages to it. We cannot forget the fact that it can help us with our studies, the information that we want to learn and of course on how to handle the circumstances that the social media gave to us. But remember to be responsible for using social media. Through the Internet, business owners and employees can connect with customers and other community members more easily than before.
If you want your online business to thrive, you have to be a realist.

FAKE NEWS

Information! that’s what comes to my mind when I heard the word News. What is new? News is a piece of information about recent and important events. This may be provided through social media, testimonies, tv, radios, etc. The most important thing to know every day aside from it gives updates, it also informs us of what happened to our environment and our weather if this day could be sunny or rainy. Common topics fo this report are government, education, health, fashion, business, economy, fashion, celebrities and many more. It is delivered by a journalist who works in journalism to report the news.

Social media plays a vital role in the news because it is one of the channels to deliver information to the audience or the people. And because of that, here comes Fake News – a hoax and disinformation send via social media and news media. Fake news is written and published usually with the intent to mislead and to damage an agency, a person, and gain financially, often using dishonest fabricated headlines to increase readership. Similarly, clickbait stories and headlines earn advertising revenue from this activity. Mostly, fake news cases are in social media, they take advantage of the freedom to post untrue stories or news because they think that people are easy to bait. As expected some people believe those exciting and eye-catcher news that is not true and some are not.

The news that is reported on television or radio is all true because they took the time to gather supporting evidence for the news and they cannot be wrong because they are aired nationwide, so they are very careful when delivering a piece of news to the public. The reason why other people tend to write Fake news with false content because they wanted to attract viewers to their websites and attracts users to benefit advertiser and improve the rating.

Duterte signed on August 29 Republic Act (RA) 10951, a law amending amounts and fines imposed under the 87-year-old Revised Penal Code. Among the key amendments is a penalty of imprisonment for up to six months and a fine of up to ₱200,000 (US$3,910) for spreading false news.

Therefore, spreading news without pieces of evidence and false content can have a penalty of imprisonment. Do not trust easily on social media, you can be deceived, better to dig deep to the information and find some evidence that can prove that the news is not fake. It’s very rampant nowadays especially on social media, you can’t easily identify the fake one because they usually use beautiful words to make it look alike the real one, that’s why there is a need for reading comprehension and paying attention when reading a piece of news especially in social media and up until now they still publishing fake news. The information may be in respect of the reader’s interest in specific fields. The best ingredient is that it should be some educational value for reader.

CYBERBULLYING

Ugly! Nerd! Slut! Freak! Whore! These are some common terms used by a bully to a victim. Cyberbullying is done through social media, messages, etc. That takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets. It includes sending, posting, sharing negative comments, and mean content about someone else. It can include sharing personal or private information about someone else causing embarrassment or humiliation. Some cyberbullying crosses the line into unlawful or criminal behavior.

Because of the massive influence of social media, it creates a negative effect on the users. We are already familiar with cyberbullying, right? And this kind of bullying is happening up to these days.

According to Cyberbullying statistics from the i-SAFE foundation:

  • Over half of adolescents and teens have been bullied online, and about the same number have engaged in cyberbullying.
  • More than 1 in 3 young people have experienced cyberthreats online.
  • Over 25 percent of adolescents and teens have been bullied repeatedly through their cell phones or the Internet.
  • Well over half of the young people do not tell their parents when cyberbullying occurs.

Despite the potential damage of cyber bullying, it is alarmingly common among adolescents and teens. The bullies tend to bully someone because of fame and power and because they have the confidence to do that kind of thing or they are just bored so, they make fun of people they meet or message someone in social media. And there is someone that if they do cyberbully they feel better or some may just jealous and unhappy. The victims of cyberbullying who are the most risk, in this case, are those who have low self-esteem and being introvert. In this matter, they don’t want to engage themselves in the environment, they prefer being alone than be with groups.

Most teenagers when they got bullied they do not inform their parents because they are embarrassed, they tend to kept it themselves that could lead to depression and much worst suicide. Hence, teens must be aware that cyberbullying is very wrong and can have serious consequences. Be cautious about the things you might be posted. Don’t automatically trust someone in social media – verify because there will be impostor profiles that could give a huge problem related to online harassment. Don’t be afraid to open up like in these situations to your mom because that’s a very important thing.

And it is very important to not believe everything others say because you know to yourself what is the truth and what is a lie. The best prevention for a cyberbully is for parents to communicate and educate digital responsibility because only the parent’s care can ease the children’s pain. Showing empathy to the victim is a must, that’s what they needed the most when they experience cyberbullying but then it only depends on ourselves and on how we handle things. We must realize that even if we are the victim or the bully, there is always a consequence in everything we do

SOCIAL MEDIA

Are you having fun surfing on social media? Does it make you express your feelings? These are some common questions that come to our mind when we talk about social media. According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, social media is a form of electronic communication (such as web sites) through which people create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, etc. which is true because there is an interaction happening in social media. Some of us have social media accounts, right? And some people don’t have maybe because of personal reasons or maybe because they are not fond of.

In social media, you have the freedom to be who you are, upload some pictures and videos that you like. Most teenagers nowadays, they use social media to express themselves whether they are happy, sad, angry, heartbroken and, etc. because they believe that, that would make them satisfied. But then, most of them don’t know the limitations of using social media. They just keep posting without knowing that they can hurt somebody. Before posting, think twice if that would appropriate to post or maybe this would hurt him/her, just like what Pia Wurztbach, a former Miss Universe 2015 said in her winning answer in Binibining Pilipinas “Always think before you click” that phrase was indeed true and it should be followed by many.

Furthermore, social media can also cause conflicts and misunderstandings. Well, this is not new to us because we experience this kind of thing too and yes, we’re all guilty of it. It’s ok to say what you wanted to say because that would give you relief of everything you’ve been through but then there is a limitation of everything, the most important is the satisfaction that you’ve got. Social media can also be a bridge of communication to your loved ones whether they are here, locally or internationally. The power of social media is the ability to connect and share information globally.

Accordingly, we all know that social media affects our lives, it could be bad or it could be good. Connectivity is what social media bring. People from anywhere can connect with anyone. Regardless of the location and the religion whether you are Catholic or Muslims. The beauty of social media is that you can connect with anyone; you can discover, learn and share your thoughts. Keeping you updated to the happenings around the world and get the information with the network of communication.

Be responsible enough when using social media, over-sharing of information is a bigger risk of using social media and the ways that could be harmful like thieves, hackers, and scammers. Be careful about what you make visible to your network, but especially what you make public. Be mindful of the words that you have thrown and again think twice before making a move to post online that’s what the most important matter of all. While sharing information in this manner is advantageous for many reasons, it brings many risks along with it.
