Are you having fun surfing on social media? Does it make you express your feelings? These are some common questions that come to our mind when we talk about social media. According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, social media is a form of electronic communication (such as web sites) through which people create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, etc. which is true because there is an interaction happening in social media. Some of us have social media accounts, right? And some people don’t have maybe because of personal reasons or maybe because they are not fond of.
In social media, you have the freedom to be who you are, upload some pictures and videos that you like. Most teenagers nowadays, they use social media to express themselves whether they are happy, sad, angry, heartbroken and, etc. because they believe that, that would make them satisfied. But then, most of them don’t know the limitations of using social media. They just keep posting without knowing that they can hurt somebody. Before posting, think twice if that would appropriate to post or maybe this would hurt him/her, just like what Pia Wurztbach, a former Miss Universe 2015 said in her winning answer in Binibining Pilipinas “Always think before you click” that phrase was indeed true and it should be followed by many.

Furthermore, social media can also cause conflicts and misunderstandings. Well, this is not new to us because we experience this kind of thing too and yes, we’re all guilty of it. It’s ok to say what you wanted to say because that would give you relief of everything you’ve been through but then there is a limitation of everything, the most important is the satisfaction that you’ve got. Social media can also be a bridge of communication to your loved ones whether they are here, locally or internationally. The power of social media is the ability to connect and share information globally.
Accordingly, we all know that social media affects our lives, it could be bad or it could be good. Connectivity is what social media bring. People from anywhere can connect with anyone. Regardless of the location and the religion whether you are Catholic or Muslims. The beauty of social media is that you can connect with anyone; you can discover, learn and share your thoughts. Keeping you updated to the happenings around the world and get the information with the network of communication.

Be responsible enough when using social media, over-sharing of information is a bigger risk of using social media and the ways that could be harmful like thieves, hackers, and scammers. Be careful about what you make visible to your network, but especially what you make public. Be mindful of the words that you have thrown and again think twice before making a move to post online that’s what the most important matter of all. While sharing information in this manner is advantageous for many reasons, it brings many risks along with it.
