Information! that’s what comes to my mind when I heard the word News. What is new? News is a piece of information about recent and important events. This may be provided through social media, testimonies, tv, radios, etc. The most important thing to know every day aside from it gives updates, it also informs us of what happened to our environment and our weather if this day could be sunny or rainy. Common topics fo this report are government, education, health, fashion, business, economy, fashion, celebrities and many more. It is delivered by a journalist who works in journalism to report the news.

Social media plays a vital role in the news because it is one of the channels to deliver information to the audience or the people. And because of that, here comes Fake News – a hoax and disinformation send via social media and news media. Fake news is written and published usually with the intent to mislead and to damage an agency, a person, and gain financially, often using dishonest fabricated headlines to increase readership. Similarly, clickbait stories and headlines earn advertising revenue from this activity. Mostly, fake news cases are in social media, they take advantage of the freedom to post untrue stories or news because they think that people are easy to bait. As expected some people believe those exciting and eye-catcher news that is not true and some are not.

The news that is reported on television or radio is all true because they took the time to gather supporting evidence for the news and they cannot be wrong because they are aired nationwide, so they are very careful when delivering a piece of news to the public. The reason why other people tend to write Fake news with false content because they wanted to attract viewers to their websites and attracts users to benefit advertiser and improve the rating.

Duterte signed on August 29 Republic Act (RA) 10951, a law amending amounts and fines imposed under the 87-year-old Revised Penal Code. Among the key amendments is a penalty of imprisonment for up to six months and a fine of up to ₱200,000 (US$3,910) for spreading false news.

Therefore, spreading news without pieces of evidence and false content can have a penalty of imprisonment. Do not trust easily on social media, you can be deceived, better to dig deep to the information and find some evidence that can prove that the news is not fake. It’s very rampant nowadays especially on social media, you can’t easily identify the fake one because they usually use beautiful words to make it look alike the real one, that’s why there is a need for reading comprehension and paying attention when reading a piece of news especially in social media and up until now they still publishing fake news. The information may be in respect of the reader’s interest in specific fields. The best ingredient is that it should be some educational value for reader.
